Movie guns

DAMIT, who is obsessing about the new Star Trek flick, presents my top 10 list of the best sci-fi guns ever.

What aout the Pulse Rifle from Aliens ????? That’s got to be the #1 on the all-time list.

  2. Robb Allen Says:

treefroggy, I left a comment regarding that very rifle (the M41A Pulse Rifle)

  3. Wolfwood Says:

If no Vera, the list fails. Also, I don’t see Vash the Stampede’s revolver or the Cross-Punisher. And no laser staff from Stargate?

    Sheesh.

  4. poobie Says:

While leaving out Vera is a damned bloody shame, leaving out the M-41A and Vasquez’s smart gun is criminal.

  5. Weer'd Beard Says:

    +1 and +2 for the M41-A and Jayne’s “Vera”

  6. D2k Says:

That’s why people should just do things-I-like-in-order lists not top 10 lists
    My additions would be:
    Mal’s pistol
    Vera
    M-41A
    The smart gun from Aliens
The Peacekeeper’s Pulse Pistols from Farscape (obscure, but I thought they were pretty cool)

Decker’s gun from Blade Runner used to be my #1 choice too, but I can’t get over the fact that it’s a Steyr bolt action receiver, which can’t fire anything, that’s been glommed onto a Charter Bulldog.
A movie gun that uses the idea of some kind of shotgun/grenade launcher mounted on the pistol is a great idea, like the Le Mat, but I would like to see one that’s actually functional. Seems that a dual tube, aluminum extrusion could be the basis of a 12-gauge flare/grenade launcher that sits atop a Glock. The lower tube would wrap around the slide and attach to the accessory rail, with the integral launcher barrel on top. Like having a 12-gauge, flare pen on top of your Glock. Or put it on a Charter Bulldog for nostalgia’s sake. With a little Hollywood magic, it could be used to launch anything with a survivable blast radius.

  8. Mikee Says:

The Zorg Corporation blasters from Fifth Element. Not only do they have the nonlethal net option, they have 3000 rounds that follow wherever the first aimed round is sent. Then there is the flamethrower and all the other oldie but goodie Zorg favorites, like the grenade launcher. Just don’t get curious about the little button on the base of the gun.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
