TN Gun Bill
Tom Humphrey lets us know that on the senate’s calendar for today is SB578. This bill would allow those with handgun carry permits to carry loaded rifles and shotguns in their vehicles.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.

I hope it passes. My usually pro-gun state senator had some reservations about it in an e-mailed reply to my request to vote for it as the House passed it. She said that gun safety rules say to keep long guns unloaded for storage. True, but I pointed out that handgun permit holders carry their handguns loaded and loaded shotguns or rifles would likely be carried in vehicles for the same reason. For instance, if you were car-jacked by multiple attackers, it would be more effective self-defense to pull out a 12 ga. pump-shotgun with 6 to 8 rounds in the mag.

Not sure about this, read the Amendments that have been added, it appears to change the language about being loaded.

“She said that gun safety rules say to keep long guns unloaded for storage.”
The NRA’s third rule states, “Always keep the gun unloaded until ready to use.”
That odd-sounding application of the word “use” is there for a very good reason. If you keep a gun for protection, you’re “using” it all the time that it is kept for that purpose. Hence, keeping a loaded shotgun in your home or vehicle, or anywhere else, does not violate the NRA safety rules. Simple as that.
Now, to get back on track; your guns are your business and no one else’s.
