I see how LA could fix up its budget shortfall, but that would be too pragmatic.
In and amongst the junk and detritus and obvious NFA violations (Uzi, sawed-off H&R Toppers, Streetsweeper) there are a couple Lugers an old, Series 70 Colt, a No.3 Top-Break S&W… God knows how many grandpas’ bring-back war trophies are buried in the big piles… All for naught. (And how many gang bangers have held up liquor stores with full-stocked Mauser 98’s, anyway? Is somebody really trying to tell me that that Remington XP-100 is a “crime gun”? Pull the other one, it’s got bells on it.)
I still haven’t heard an explanation about how a mayor has the authority to declare an amnesty for violations of a federal law. NFA34 + GCA68 + Supremacy Clause == 2jail/!passgo/!collect$200. It would seem that there are some mayors in Washington State that would like to suspend other federal laws if they could manage it.
