More on TN park carry
The Rep brings news of a deal:
The gun bill in parks is coming back from the gov (previous to veto) withdrawn by the sponsor. The local parks part part is coming out. The preemption of locals for guns in restaurants is going on.
Update: More:
Rep. Frank Niceley, House sponsor of the guns-in-parks bill, told the Gaggle that the governor and legislators have agreed to add language making clear that municipalities cannot somehow ban handguns in bars/restaurants through their beer regulations in exchange for taking local parks completely out of the bill. Bicentennial Mall and one other state park contained completely within a municipality would also be removed from the bill.

Well this is an unmitigated disaster.
In exchange for not getting a veto that would’ve been overridden easily, Nicely gets to add language saying that municipalities can’t do something the state ALREADY says they can’t do, and we also lose state parks in cities like Nashville, Memphis, Knoxville, and Chattanooga.
Just brilliant.

See? Using the system fails. Ultraviolence works.

Screw this let the idiots use the beer license to screw the restaurants who are PSH and remove the beer license. Then only the restaurants suffer. This way all gun carriers lose the ability to carry in parks.
If state preemptions on guns then let the bill get vetoed and try again next year. This is a cluster fuck.

How can the bill sponsor subvert the vote of the entire legislature. Were there not co-sponsors – do they want the bill returned?

I just read over on the Tennessee Firearms association forum that this bill has NOT been recalled, as the Senate did not concur with the recall. The Governor has until tomorrow (noon, i think) to veto or it becomes law without his sig. We think we have the votes to override his veto, and I think he knows it.

If Bredesen denies an agreement that everyone was relying on, who lied?
