Carry a .25 ACP if it makes you feel good, but don’t ever load it. If you load it you may shoot it. If you shoot it you may hit somebody, and if you hit somebody — and he finds out about it — he may be very angry with you.
I keep one in my desk drawer here in my home office.
.25 is tiny, but if someone busts through my door, I figure they’ll likely stop charging once hit long enough for me to snag something… er, more effective.
God help the criminal who intrudes when I’m sleeping though. God help me, actually, I may very well light the bed on fire. No curtains in the house, everything else should be fine 🙂

Well … ok …, I’ll just use my Jedi mind trick, instead.
I’ve known a lot of cops who carried a .25ACP Colt or Beretta in an ankle holster as a back-up gun. Or maybe a “drop gun”.
