‘yotes

Just the other day at lunch, I was mentioning how we hadn’t seen any coyotes since I capped the last one about two years ago. This morning, my wife said she saw another.

What. You mean your wife didn’t cry, yell “oh my God, I’m not going to make it out of here” and call 911 like that nutjob in Boston did?

  2. Finny Says:

New to your page and am enjoying it very much. On topic: sounds like it’s harvest time for another coyote. Best of luck and thanks for the straight dope on the issues that I care about. Yeah I know, it’s for your entertainment and not mine. I like it all the same Uncle.

Sounds fun, but disposal is always a problem.

My wife and I was coming home a few days ago when a ‘yote crossed the road in front of us. That was the first I’d seen in a year. The spot was on the edge of town just at the beginning of a residential area. Bet he was looking for a tasty pup for supper.

…and no doubt had already made a tasty breakfast and luncheon of pheasant and quail eggs.

So, did you wife go to the statehouse without you?

  7. straightarrow Says:

    And she only saw one?

A few years ago folks in Santa Barbara California were complaining about Coyotes munching on their cats and yapper dogs. Oh well, Coyotes gotta eat too.

Last one I saw was almost 2 years ago. I was eating breakfast in my usual coyote-murdering attire (bathrobe and bare feet) when one came wandering through the back yard like he owned the place.

Grabbed the .308 (we have a big back yard.) When I got back he’d ducked behind the berm for the engineered septic system. I carefully slid open the back door and the screen door, mindful that he undoubtedly heard me and waited for him to appear from one side or the other of the berm.

He did neither. He carefully poked his head up from behind the mound to see what the noise was. I stuck a 150 gr soft point immediately aft of his left hear for his troubles.

I felt good about the shot until I paced it.

    24 whole yards.

    Moriarty,

ROFL! Though imagine how bad you would have felt if you had missed at that range! 🙂

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
