If they permitted the free carrying of cash then the Elliot Spitzers of the world would never get caught for laundering money to pay a call girl.
We must also be cognizant that the officers were suspicious since their wives never let them out of the house with more than $50. The fact that his man could have more was hurtful and damaged their self-esteem.

Good thing steve rcorded and stoof up for hid rights. The assumption is that security can ask anything and do anything. That assumption has to be confronted.

Somewhat related – the Commander and I were stopped two weeks ago after declaring firearms. Shockingly, the TSA guys were polite to the point of near obsequiousness. It was the Delta gate agent who was a sneering prick. I should’ve learned this already, but I’m going to start making audio recordings. It’s illegal in some states, but I’d rather plead guilty to that charge than not have the data for use in a civil trial later.

He had good reason to be concerned other than the obvious ones. In the agency I work in, I dealt with the “old” TSA counterparts in “Immigration” as they were called. There was one dirty SOB that was robbing his prisoners blind of all of their belongings. To include jewelry and cash. He eventually was caught, prosecuted and is now wearing an orange jumpsuit.
