How when some politico wants to raise taxes in a budget crisis, the first thing they evoke is cutting back on police. Yet, even though they’re never the ones to get the money, they’re the first ones cut.

police, fire-fighters, the library, and the Department of Motor Vehicles.
No one ever said we’d have to skimp on food stamps, forgo cost of living adjustments for state Legislators or stop paying people $35k a year to press both “record” AND “play” AT THE SAME TIME as an official court recorder.

Uh, NO! The first thing they do is threaten your children. You know, have to close schools, fire teachers, do away with extracurricular activities, cut back on lunch and lunch programs, fire school nurses, fire security personnel, close playgrounds, fire crossing guards, etc, etc, ad nauseum.
