Hellerversary
I neglected to mention that yesterday was the one year anniversary of the Heller decision. But others remembered. SM:
y’all ought to join me in burning some powder this weekend. After all, the first anniversary is suppose to be the paper one. Let’s punch some holes in some targets!
And Reason has a round up.

Oh he’ll yeah! I took my US citizenship oath yesterday! How cool is it that it was on the 1st anniversary of the Heller decision?

I and another guy from work took a new shooter out this weekend. Also from work, with whom I have had many discussions about individual liberty and gun rights. We met at one house, and agreed to take one vehicle. So, right there, in the middle of the street, in broad daylight, we transferred a gaggle of rifles and pistols from his vehicle to mine. As we were passing rifle cases and ammo cans hand to hand, I had to turn to the new guy and say “Only in America”.
A good time was had by all, and much ammo was expended. By the way, my new AR-15 hates wolf steel case ammo. I know others have complained, but I thought what the heck, give it a try. Now I know.

The first anniversary is traditional paper, so I’m thinking paper targets.
The second is cotton or (modern) china. I’m thinking of going skeet-shooting wearing a “Heller Kitty” tee-shirt next year.
I know there aren’t any hard or fast rules, but steel isn’t traditional until the eleventh year.

I still don’t understand how the courts can say that the Heller decision only applies at the federal level and not the states. If this is true then the other rights only apply at the federal level also.
