Guns, crime and Canada

MACLEANS:

we have a higher murder rate than Germany and a lower one than Scotland

[…]

Among the factors determining murder rates, levels of gun ownership is among the most overstated and least reliable, in Mauser’s view. “There is no empirical support for the claim that gun ownership is related to violence rates,” he says.

Once again, the anti-rights bigots confuse the tool used with the end result desired. Increases in gun ownership rates may not have a strong correlation with violent crime reduction, that is the wrong question.

The right question is the ability of a citizen or subject of a state to individually enforce their right of self defense against violent attack, without penalty from the government.

Where individuals can provide for their own self defense, in areas where that was previously discouraged by “must retreat” laws or penalties for engaging in self defense, regardless of the tools used, the rate of violent crime against individuals seems to decline.

As a famous blogger notes, self defense is a human right.

    “criminologist Gary Mauser”

Ha. Gary MAUSER, firearms expert. It was destiny at birth.

  3. B Woodman Says:

Now what do all these “experts” define as “murder”?

Is it the person killed deliberately by another person (using a gun – hand or long)?

Or is it ANYONE killed by use of a gun; including suicide and self-defense?

    Define your terms, please.

Keep in mind that Macleans is considered to be a centre-centreright publication by many up here. that’s how bad things have gotten
freedom-wise over the last 40 or so years

Well, in the German language suicide is termed “Selbstmord”, or self-murder. I have no idea whether that carries over into the statistical realm as well.

  6. Matt Groom Says:

A higher murder rate than Germany, where guns are VERY difficult to get, and a lower one than Scotland, where guns are IMPOSSIBLE to get. They are proving a point, it’s just that its the opposite of what they are trying to prove.

At least he got the conclusion right. A mental midget can figure out that inanimate objects don’t do anything by themselves. It take a person to use them for nefariou means.

  8. Wolfwood Says:

I have a sneaking suspicion that the real cause of all this is that Scotland is full of Scots and Germany is full of Germans.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
