Re; AK range report (since I’m not going to set up a google account just so I can post a comment over there – what’s up with that?)
Some of the WASRs have canted sight blocks, but that hardly ever means you can’t get them zeroed.
Get an AK front sight tool, and use it to push the cross pin (holds the actual sight post in the sight block) over to the side to attain windage zero. You don’t start pushing out barrel pins until you have used up all your windage adjustment, and need still more. Your rifle may look funny and still shoot to a proper zero. Happens all the time. Instructions here; http://www.ultimak.com/AKST.htm
Once you get it running right, it will serve you for a lifetime.
And yes– there are some AKs that will shoot to 2 MOA or better at short range (100M or so), but they are the exception. Same goes for the M-14 and many others.
I shoot AKs from the bench, or prone, a lot. Same issues with an AR. A shorter mag, like a 20 rounder, helps, but taller rests or bags allow use of thirties. It’s just a little adjustmemt is all. Totally solveable.
