Quote of the day
Tam:
Today is the day when real Americans light off fireworks (or, in many states, watch the government light off fireworks for them) to celebrate conscription and income taxes, zoning laws and the FDA! Two-flush toilets and government-mandated florescent light bulbs! Seat belt laws and helmet mandates!
More where that came from. Read it all.

I always find people objecting to zoning laws amusing. I’m tempted to find where they live and locate a strip club, a body shop, and a rendering plant right next door and see what they make of it.

You know, Sebastian-PGP, normally you have a pretty good sense of humor for a self-described “Progressive”. What happened? Did you donate it to the “Al Franken For Senator” campaign? :p

Eh, it’s Monday :). After a 3 day weekend.
But we have all sorts of zoning issues here in Baltimore (esp when you live on the outskirts of a former industrialized area in a town that isn’t all that industrial anymore and redevelopment battles are the order of the day)…people bitch and moan about zoning laws and our zoning boards…and then I think “geezey peasy, are you really thinking about the consequences of not having them in a town that used to house Bethlehem Steel?”

(All that said…god bless it that was funny, and I think you’re right on point…I’m sure the WW2 veterans being made to take their shoes off at the airport and waiting 7 days to pick up their lawfully purchased guns think to themselves “I fought and my friends died to save democracy and we now have this?”)

I thought it was a celebration of the right of people to revolt against tyrannical government…

I thought that’s what tortuous negligence and liability were for?
Suppose I got the zoning board to agree that my neighborhood was zoned for no political lawn signs? Especially those nasty “Hope & Change” ones?
