National Reciprocity Vote Today

The NRA lets us know that today Senators John Thune (R-SD) and David Vitter (R-LA) will offer an amendment this week to provide for interstate recognition of Right-to-Carry permits. They encourage you to contact your senators. And here’s a handy form to show you how to contact them.

I’m surprised there is such controversy. I would think that national reciprocity would be not only legit, but wholly constitutional under the “Full Faith and Credit” clause (Art. IV, Section 1).

On the other hand, I am much conflicted by this amendment. If full reciprocity becomes law, then where are the criminals going to go? As it is, they can count on unarmed victims in several locations around the country: Chicago, NYC, Los Angeles, San Fracisco, etc. In a time of recession, do you really want to throw MORE people out of “work”?

  2. David Says:

The amendment failed by two votes. Only two votes. That gives us hope that one day this will pass.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
