More on the bar shooting
“He doesn’t have a permit for the gun as far as we know,” Monroe County Sheriff Bill Bivens said. “Some people have said this shooting happened because of the ‘guns in bars’ law, but I’m not sure it applies here as he didn’t have a permit to start with. And while it might seem obvious alcohol was involved, we don’t know yet whether anybody involved was drunk above the legal limit.”
As we said here yesterday, no permit. Shooter had a criminal record.

Hmmm, interesting. Two against one, the one appears to be retreating, but is followed. The one pulls gun but the two continue to advance. The one fires a warning shot, but it appears this does not deter the two either. One then fires at the two.
I don’t know. There’s a lot of holes and quite a few assumptions, but this isn’t sounding like “drunk jerk gets mad shoots innocents” anymore. It’s starting to sound like he was legitimately afraid for his life. May be why he’s been released and not charged yet. They might rule it justified.
It was certainly stupid to be rude and escalate a confrontation while strapped, though.

Guy without a carry permit appears to lawfully defend himself at a place that isn’t a bar.
And this is immediately held out as why ‘guns in bars’ is a stupid idea.
hoookay, then.
