Crazy

Nut job in PA opens fire at a health club. On the local talk radio this morning, they were reading excerpts from this guy’s blog where he had been planning this for over a year. He was angry over not having a girlfriend since the 1980s.

    This is the natural consequence when prostitution is banned. Damn I’d be upset too if I didn’t have a girlfriend for 29 years!

    But seriously, don’t go into a crowded place without a firearm because you are in a target rich environment. This may mean giving up gyms and other forms of group exercise where you can’t carry a weapon.

    Go to the gym. Carry a gym bag from machine to machine. Place .45 projectile dispenser in bag. Exercise with peace of mind and body.

    We were discussing this at work this morning. We’re in a huge cube farm with badge-controlled access to the exterior doors, which have (non-regulation) ‘no self-defense allowed inside’ signs. There have been layoffs amounting to about 30% of the workforce here since the first of the year, with more likely before the end of ’09.

    The guy in the next cube was asking me Monday about such a scenario as last night. My team has already (jokingly) admitted that if it happened, they’d all come and hide in my cube and throw me out to ‘go deal with it’. I expect that a teammate will bring it up again this week.

    If this guy left all these tracks behind- blog, notes, attitude, coworker’s statements of his behavior and such, I’m amazed someone didn’t proactively kick his ass for him before this. Oh, wait…he worked for a law firm. Nevermind.

    This guy had a CCW from Pennsylvania. This is interesting because several of the “spree” killers this year appear to be guys with CCWs and no prior criminal record.
