I have only sympathy for the parents but why the #$%^ didn’t they call their kids’ pediatrician or just take the kid to the emergency room? Just what kind of intelligence and education did they think they were going to get from some retard who sits on his fat ass all day waiting for the phone to ring?
The problem with the Gosmans are that they’re an apparently well-off, middle-class, white family. If they’d been poor black folks in the hood, Social Services would have never bothered, or the family would’ve gotten “services”. Been there, seen that.
Poison Control is used a lot when kids ingest something they shouldn’t and can give good emergency advice on what to do. Either to induce vomiting or not.
This case will encoutage parents not to use the services and as result deaths may occur.
I called Poison Control 3 days ago when late in the evening I got an allergic reaction to Plavix, a blood thinner I was prescriped 6 days before. They did confirm that hives are a known reaction but very rare. They called me back the next day and It was getting worse so I said I was going to the ER. They called the ER before I arrived. They called the next day to make sure I was OK. They asked if they could call a few days later and I said yes. It was really great service.
I am an adult and this was a drug reaction that only 2% get. So there was little on the internet to check. But they did confirm it was a known reaction which helped me diagnose the issue. The reaction got worse the next day and I had stoppd the drug and had to get IV of steriods for the swelling and IV of antihistamines. Plus new scripts.
That worked and when Poison Control called back and I said I had a script for antihistamine but I no longer had any hives or itches just residual swelling they recommended I just take the steriod prescription and not take the antihistamine since it was stong and would make me sleepy. I had jsut change my blood pressure med and did not want to add to that so I agreed. It was good advice.
So I had a good experience but your case sounds like the police and the hospital were the ones that forced social services not Poison Control who just called for police to help them.
Need more fact to know who to blame for the fiasco. I hope the parents have everything work out for them. Thankfully the kids was clean.
They need to have their lawyer have a talk with poison control. From the stated facts this case does not rise to the level needed for the child abuse exception to HIPPA.
Had those been my children the greatest need would not have been for attorneys, but for morticians. I would have hunted down every one those kidnaping sonsofbitches and killed them.
I have others, but that is one line in the sand no one gets to violate by even a millimeter.

I know. That’s my point. The guy at poison control gave them advice that the cops and social used to take their kids away.
