I guess even atheists need ceremonies
Some atheists are using a hair dryer to de-baptize themselves. I find that a bit odd since the atheist crowd tends to be down on the pomp and ceremony of religion.

It seems like being anti-religion is the religion of alot of atheists. I find hard-core atheism more annoying than a hard-core bible thumping fwiw.

As someone who could be described as religious, I find that absolutely hilarious! That’s pretty creative if you ask me (which you probably didn’t, but hey, if I’m anything it’s a giver).
I’d imagine that it’s not the ceremony that most atheists have a problem with. We use ceremony in practically everything we do – waving, hand shaking, asking someone how they are today, foreplay, etc.

As an atheist I find the whole thing ridiculous. The baptism didn’t mean anything, so I don’t feel any need to de-baptize. Remember that the atheists that the news reports on are the ones that make a name for themselves. The majority of us just don’t care what the religious nutters think.

“…the atheist crowd tends to be down on the pomp and ceremony of religion.”
Atheists, yes.
Anti-theists, no.
How very upset the anti-theists must be when others describe their behavior as ‘evangelical.’

Well, keep in mind that these are formerly-religious people who are very much into ceremony to start with. Maybe for them it’s theraputic or symbolic. As someone who was never religious to start with, I obviously don’t have the desire or need to ritualize my atheism—I’m just not religious. I guess these former believers need to actually reject their former beliefs.

These must be the atheists who say they don’t believe in God but are fearful that God might believe in them.

As an atheist, I have to say that that is the gheyest thing I’ve heard this week, but it’s only Thursday.

As an Atheist, I don’t really see how it’s logical or reasonable to use a hair dryer when your hair isn’t wet. What’s even less logical is getting your hair wet with the sole intention of drying it with a hair dryer for the purpose of ceremony. That’s just stupid.
They mark the hair dryer with the word “Reason” so that makes their actions reasonable? Does that mean if I paint the word “Friendly” on a carving knife and stab them with it that I’m being friendly? Morons are morons where ever you go.

Maybe they’re just having fun and a laugh at the expense of those who are confused at why they are doing it.

I find it ironic that the (apparently) sole theist in here finds this humorous and understands it completely.
Then again, maybe it’s the whole ceremony thing I’m supposed to like.
