Several years ago I met a man who was building up Camp Carbines in .45 with an integrally-suppressed barrel for a regional drug taskforce. This was just about the time they went out of production. With 230gr. ball, it was remarkably quiet- more like a car door slamming, as heard from way down the block, with a very authorative WHACK as that big roundnose hit the target butt.
I’ve seen the same price trend for awhile myself. It really makes me wish I’d have gotten one years ago. They’re exceedingly durable and simple, much like the Model 60 Marlins, and I’ve never understood Marlin’s rationale for discontinuing them.

I’ve noticed that .45 Camp Carbines are getting extremely cult-y. They usually bring more now used than they did when new.
Great platforms for .45 Super, too.
