If there is no preemption prohibiting you from carrying there, then keep your mouth shut and carry on (pun intended). It’s also possible that such a question would be violating your 5th amendment rights if there is some sort of prohibition on carrying at town halls.
Sounds like they invoked the “no guns in a meeting” law. That is the same one that allows restaurants to bar carry in TN. No laws broken so they allowed him back in. I say good for him, he acted exactly like he was supposed to.
