I don’t see why I should trust them any more or less than the government with my firearm information.
Also if any of my guns are stolen (as with any of my other pieces of personal property) I’ll be filing a police report with all that relevant information…
What do I have to gain from them?

Weer’d Beard: It’s probably more to make sure that the gun you are buying through the want-ads isn’t stolen moreso than to help you recover your own gun from a theft.
As for who you should trust more, I’ll just point out that Kroger has never used *its* control of the food supply chain to starve undesirables into submission.
Which isn’t to say I’d necessarily trust these guys with that info, only to say that I trust the .gov that much less.

Kroger’s is not in a position to ration my food, they are not a sole source provider of anything.

Weer’d Beard, do you relize that once the police take your report, they put it into the NCIC. The gun shops and the civilians can’t get into it. So the criminals can sell it at any gun store and the gun store can’t find out if it’s been reported stolen. There goes your guns. And worse yet, when the police try to access the NCIC, they can’t get a report bacy for 24 hours. Our government sucks! I swear there is a conspiracy. We should be able to get that info ourselves. They don’t want us gun owners to own guns. I checked out the site, and the have a NRA business logo and in the FAQ, it says they are members of many gun rights groups. From what I saw, they seem like they are for us. I’ll be contacting the gun organizations tomorrow and get more info. They seem legit.

That’s kinda my point. They could *try* but since they can’t *succeed* they won’t.
Gov’t can.
And might.
