Anti-gunner to head OSHA

Reports Overlawyered:

Thats by no means irrelevant to the agenda of an agency like OSHA, because once you start viewing private gun ownership as a public health menace, it begins to seem logical to use the powers of government to urge or even require employers to forbid workers from possessing guns on company premises, up to and including parking lots, ostensibly for the protection of co-workers.

guns in parks

A reader emails:

Virginia has allowed concealed carry (indeed, open carry) in public parks for the better part of a decade now. And yet for some reason, I can’t recall the last time I saw someone go on a shooting rampage near the teeter-totter.

Black man with a gun

At an Obama event. Obviously, another one of those racist white separatists. HT: Sebastian.

Meanwhile, from comments, an observation from NK:

The more black people, the tougher the gun laws. Perfect correlation, state by state and city by city.

Oh teh noes: non-felon gets gun permit!

Who can pack heat in Tennessee? The PSH from the press says thugs can. They seem shocked that someone not prohibited from getting a permit got one.

Also, the hand-wringing is strong when it turns out that there maybe issues with 14 people out of over 339,000 issued. Seems the courts aren’t doing their jobs notifying the state.

And, of course, complying with the law is a “loophole“.

In NY

NY’s Top Cop Raymond Kelly says the Harlem shooter acted in self defense.

However:

It was later discovered that Augusto did not have a permit for the shotgun, which he had purchased more than 20 years earlier – and had hoped he would never have to fire.

In NY, self-defense or not, that could lead to jail time.

Quote of the day

Looking at guns on campus, the local sheriff opines:

“In actual shootings, citizens do far better than law enforcement on hit potential,” said White. “They hit their targets and they don’t hit other people. I wish I could say the same for cops. We train more, they do better.”

And citizens seem to have a pretty good record stopping mass murderers.
