OK, if ANYBODY deserves the “Medal of Freedom”, it’s Alan. I called him and offered to donate back when Heller was before the DC court and he politely declined. Did DC ever pay him the money they owed? And in about 2 weeks, there will be more 2nd amendment cases that could be heard by the Supreme Court. And Alan would be one of the lawyers in one of those cases (Chicago).
I met Gura twice while I was running my law school’s fed soc chapter (invited him to do an event on Heller and again later when he was arguing the Chicago cases). He’s a pretty cool guy who really knows his stuff in regards to 2A law.
He completely cleaned the clock of one of our con law professors (this was before Heller completely killed the collective rights model).
