They’ve actually been selling this for a while. As noted, TVP, and not a lot of portion information on the packaging. Throw this in the bomb shelter, but make an effort to keep a good supply of real (tastes good) food as well.
I’ve had several of the THRIVE items(eggs, bacon TVP, & apples) & have to say that they are pretty tasty.
As far as portion& nutritional info go here, http://www.shelfreliance.com/
Noted because it’s mainstream. But before anyone gets out their credit card, let’s do a little math.
What they don’t tell you (short of opening the pdf and then basically building a spreadsheet) is the total Calories per person per day. Critical if you wanted to shop around.
So is this a starvation diet? well I don’t know, but it’s sold as (6 months * 4 people * 3 (implied) meals per day) = 6 * 30 * 4 * 3 = 2,160 meals
Cost is about $12.82 per can. A little pricey, but maybe worth it if you didn’t want to CO2 pack your own rice and beans.
However, they claim 9,438 Total Servings, whatever that means. So if we wanted at least 2000 Calories per day, we’d have to average 135 Calories per “serving”. Not going to happen unless they add more pintos.
Finally, WTF is up with a total lack of peanut-butter? That’s pretty much the only cost-effective way to bulk up the Calories. In fact, barring weird stuff like tahiti, peanut butter has one of the highest energy/weight ratios out there.
Post-TEOTWAWKI per meal cost is just under a buck.
I bought this as well and it forms the basis for my food storage. If you go this route, make sure you’ve got room for 26 cases of cans. My rather small pantry is chock full.
TVP actually isn’t that bad. I keep some of it around. There is only so much meat you can store long term, and once that is gone, beans could get a tad boring.
Well decided to do a little math. Used their 1 person – 1 year kit(78 #10 cans).
Total calories is 342,670, which is only ~939 cals/day. Definitely a starvation amount. Based on the stated amounts & calories, you will need at least twice the indicated amount.

If you want to try TVP, just go get some Bacos fake bacon bits
One week on TVP and I’ll bet the whistle-pigs will even start looking like fine fare
You know that they sell real bacon and butter in cans, right?
