Gun Porn
Video from a machine gun shoot. Careful Obama voters, you may see a black man with a gun.
Jay compares them. And here’s a similar comparison I did three years ago.
What do you do? Do you have a gun? Where is it? Is it loaded? Is it locked away or gun-locked? What are your chances of surviving an attack without a weapon compared to having one?
I’m not saying go buy the gun. I’m saying that if you already have one and you haven’t shot it or cleaned it in, let’s say, the last year, or if it is in the closet, unloaded and/or locked down, the fact is, you will not be able to get to it in time.
Crooks are deathly afraid of being shot. They don’t like being bitten by dogs or locked up by the cops, or going down with the swine flu either, but they really don’t like being shot.
Criminals pick on the weak, and yes, the naïve, and those that will offer the least threat to them as they commit the crime. If you have a weapon, clean it up, oil it up, shoot it and then decide if you need to have it in the home. That’s a tough question if you have kids.
Indeed.

I just got word that Nashville’s Adam Dread and Paul Helmke, president of the Brady Campaign, will debate two folks from the NRA about Tennessee’s guns-in-bars legislation and the Second Amendment in a panel discussion at UT Martin.
The event will be Monday, Sept. 14, from 7-9:00 pm at the University Center Ballroom at UT Martin. Apparently it is part of UT Martin’s “commemoration of the U.S. Constitution.”
Were the 14th not my first day back from the Gun Blogger Renezvous, I’d try to go.
ETA: Martin is no where near where I thought it was.
There could not have been a shooting at a Memphis park since they opted out of letting people carry there.
Some folks are worried that their little snowflakes are going to get a heavy dose of propaganda when the president speaks to their kids today. And they think propaganda should come from the home. Looks to me like he’s giving one of those stay in school speeches so I’m not that concerned. Not quite sure what all the hubbub is about, except partisanship.
Update: When Bush spoke to students, Democrats investigated, held hearings
A man pulled over for DUI was taken to the hospital and forced to a bed, then catheterized against his will. Seems, he had a problem with the whole thing and is now suing.
Michael Silence laments the constant information overload. Sebastian has some coping strategies. There’s a lot of noise out there on the internet and there’s no way to keep up with it all.
In Washington, police were called on reports of someone walking the street with an AK47. Turns out, it was a replica rifle for some game.
Pimp your gun application. That’s actually pretty cool. Via Tam, who makes fun of airsoft and counterstrike commandos.
The only anti-gun blogger I know of who is not a paid shill (just a shill) thinks we should make guns illegal because a man with a gun and restraining order against him (illegal) violated that order (illegal) and shot his family (also, illegal). Why, if only one more law could make it a bit more illegal, then it would never happen.
Teaching some kids to shoot a handgun. The inlaws came by and their kids wanted to go shooting. So, we broke out the suppressed Walther and went to work. Junior witnessed the goings on and wanted to give it a shot, so I let her. I’d never pressured her to shoot and figured when she was ready, she’d tell me. She did. She shot off two magazines. Don’t tell NY, but I took some pics too:

This is why we practice our Todd Jarrett Kung Fu Grip. And, I know, you gun nuts are gonna get all where’s the eye protection on me. And, while I probably should have, didn’t think it was necessary with the 22.
Revellers continue to show up for a good time on Beale Street with handguns on their hips or in their purses — only to be turned back.
And:
The task of keeping guns off Beale falls to PSI Security officers, who use wands to detect weapons at various checkpoints on the edges of Beale each weekend.
“We are still stopping a lot with weapons,” said Leonard Porter, owner of PSI. Guards ask patrons to return their guns to their homes or to their cars before coming onto Beale.
“We don’t confiscate them. We ask them to put them back in their cars,” Porter said.
“A lot of them are from out of state. Some are off-duty police officers,” he said.
The article notes most folks are carrying illegally. I wonder if they call the police on those who are not?

Fearing jihadists will attack synagogues during Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, a group of badass rabbis has developed a program to turn your average shul-goer into a lean, mean fighting machine.
The group, which calls itself the International Security Coalition of Clergy, was founded by Rabbi Gary Moscowitz, who boasts a black belt in karate, teaches martial arts and was an NYPD cop for nine years.
He’s teaching others basic and advanced fighting moves — how to take down a terrorist by the neck, how to use a table as cover from gunfire and how to execute a nifty running somersault while drawing a gun — that he says can be used by Jews if they’re attacked by terrorists during prayer.
Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
