And let’s face it, Glenn: If congress can’t take a gun away and President Obama can’t take a gun away but the mayor takes your gun away, you still don’t have a gun. Alan Gura Sept 30 2009
Seems to me he isn’t doing himself any favors. Like a football player trash talking before the game, his cockiness may just inspire people to donate more against him.
“If Gura wins on his P&I argument and overturns Slaughterhouse, he may just be one of the most awesome civil rights activists of all time.”
Overturning Slaughterhouse would be a major accomplishment all by itself. It’s definitely an example of precedent gone out of control.
Getting rid of the ban is only the first step. Just like DC, it will be a long battle to get Chicago’s citizens a practical ability to own firearms – especially if this case doesn’t address licensing or registration issues (just like Heller).
On the other hand, at least Chicago residents will actually have places to legally buy guns, even if Chicago never allows an FFL to set up in town. As far as I know, DC still only has one FFL, and he only does transfers.

DC hasn’t had a gun ban for a year, but look how hard it is for law-abiding people to own firearms there.
Expect the same in Chicago.

There’s a gun ban in Chicago? Someone should tell the gangbangers who do fourteen shootings in one weekend. Apparently, they haven’t heard about it.
