Tried to meet Ron Ramsey
I was at the Foothills Fall Festival a bit ago and lieutenant governor and gubernatorial candidate Ron Ramsey and his posse (that’s what the wife called them) were there mingling with the crowd. I made eye contact and smiled, generally trying to strike up a conversation. I would have asked him if he had anything to say to Tennessee gun rights activists. Except that I never really could get his attention. Oh well. And, no, it’s not that I’m particularly intimidating or crazy-looking. It’s just that he seemed busy. Though it may have helped if I had shaved.

You need some business cards with TENNESSEE POLITICAL BLOGGER in big letters on it. That’ll get their attention.

Maybe you should send him a polite email, noting that you’re a widely-read blogger, and send him a link to David’s gun rights questionnaire.

Dear Say Uncle,
I was at the Foothills Festival today with my wife, my three daughters and their husband/boyfriends. Steve West and Darryl Tipton were showing me around and introducing me to people.
Sorry if I made eye contact with you but did not say hello.
As you probably know, I carried the bill that allowed for gun carry permits in Tennessee. I am the only candidate for governor that has a carry permit. I am a huge advocate for gun owners in Tennessee, both as a state senator and Lt. Governor.
If you see me again, please introduce yourself to me. I enjoy meeting voters and answering any questions they may have.
Have a great day!
Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey

Ron, thanks for the comment. I didn’t take it in a negative light and I hope you don’t think I meant that. As I said, you looked busy. I did not see Darrell when I ran into you. And you did seem to have a lot of the younger crowd with you.
And I am aware of your pro-gun bona fides, which is why I would have loved to have spoken with you.

Dear Say Uncle,
No problem! I look forward to meeting you sometime. If I can ever be of assistance, let me know.
Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey

Sounds like an email interview is in order.

We need people like him here in California! They used to move here in the 30’s, but then we got all those Massachusetts liberals in the 50’s and 60’s who came for College and didn’t go home when they were done…
