I notice Assistant Attorney General Takisha (sic) Fitzgerald is handling the M-1 at a press conference with the magazine inserted and the bolt closed.
Two possibilities:
1) She doesn’t know The Four Rules.
2) She wants to make sure the big, bad magazine is visible.
Actually, in the picture I’m looking at, the bolt is open and you can see the top of the follower, indicating that the magazine is empty.
What I noticed right away (other than the ventilated handguard which means this is probably one of those cheap knockoffs that were made for many years), was that there is no rear sight.
Just an empty dovetail in the top of the receiver.
This could indicate that the owner intended this to be “spray fired from the hip” but that’s unpossible (apologies to Uncle) because it doesn’t have an evil pistol grip.

That’s not an M1 Carbine, that’s clearly an AK-47! Jeez, get it right Uncle! 😉
