Bait

This strikes me as a good way to get killed or sued.

I can’t say I’d be willing to go trolling.

And yet, the cops aren’t doing much good.

Should people NOT try and make their community a better place by direct action on their own parts?

Or should that sort of thing be restricted to “Marching Against Violense”?

I have my opinion on which one might be effective, and which one is empty, feel good fluffery.

Well, back in the day (which never existed btw) only the good guys carried openly. Criminals and other low lives made the concealed gun popular. Real men wore their guns in plain sight.

If the idea is to go armed to deter crime, everyone should know when you are armed. If you expect to be over powered and have your gun taken away you have a hide out gun to use to get your main piece back with.

Never continue to shoot at the aggressor after they have disengaged. Unless they are laying on the ground crying for mommie, in which case a mercy shot is required 🙂

ipso facto, we need to carry more or less openly, if we are the good guys.

I doubt we can win any hearts and minds, but it is what it is.

And the proper way to do that would have been to continue with their normal routines. If the neighborhood is dangerous, then the carry weapon was simply to provide capability to handle a situation that might interfere (by threat of death or serious bodily injury) with their routine. Get enough people who continue with their routine, both armed and unarmed, and the criminals will thin out due to the risk of witnesses and self-defense.

Going out looking for bad guys is not something you can justify unless you are police. Being observant, not letting yourself be cowed to hide behind the curtains and carrying weapons is how you contribute to your communities. Your primary weapon is a cell phone to report crimes to the police. Your secondary weapon is becoming observant and learning how to be a good witness. Your weapon of last resort is your firearm, which is only there to stop threats of death or serious bodily injury against you by those who oppose your use of your primary weapon.

This is kind of related. Did anyone know that there is a whole website devoted to people who like to pretend they are police? http://policeposers.com/

I was kind of shocked when I first looked at the site. I didn’t realize there were so many of them.

Why couldn’t these students have just started up a run-of-the-mill “Neighborhood Watch” program?

If they want to participate in that activity but also carry a gun for personal protection, that’s their own business but they should have the good sense to not talk about that.

These lads have more enthusiasm than common sense.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
