Aunt B. asks if there’s any sort of rule about determining if gun shots are something to be worried about. I live in a rural area too and it’s common to hear gun shots. Another reason that I only shoot suppressed weapons on my property. Sound suppressors: the neighborly thing to do.

I was at the Foothills Fall Festival a bit ago and lieutenant governor and gubernatorial candidate Ron Ramsey and his posse (that’s what the wife called them) were there mingling with the crowd. I made eye contact and smiled, generally trying to strike up a conversation. I would have asked him if he had anything to say to Tennessee gun rights activists. Except that I never really could get his attention. Oh well. And, no, it’s not that I’m particularly intimidating or crazy-looking. It’s just that he seemed busy. Though it may have helped if I had shaved.
Being fired at the Supreme Court:
The gun control debate can be an emotional one for those on either side of the fence, such as members of the National Rifle Association or the anti-handgun Brady Campaign. Many see it as a red state, blue state issue, part of that “culture war” or “Kulturkampf” characterized by Scalia in dissent in 1996, and by conservative Patrick Buchanan in a series of speeches.
The New Hampshire Department of Safety has ordered law enforcement agencies to stop running background checks before returning confiscated firearms to their owners, saying it’s a misuse of the system.
Except, they’re not. The actual flaw is because county clerks fail to report items to the TBI. These checks are used for gun purchases and for state employment, among other things. I wonder if it’s the same check for handgun carry permits as well? After all, there’s been a few cases where people who were legally barred from gun ownership have gotten permits to carry guns.
I wonder if the clerks report accurately to the federal system? Anyway, I would imagine the state needs to fix this. If we’re going to have background checks done by the state, they should work. Otherwise, they may want to use the national system.

I’m not making a list because the criteria aren’t well defined. I mean, five for shooting, for hunting, for home defense, for zombies? But Tam has some thoughts.
It’s a recurring theme here but Prince Law Offices says they found the smoking gun:
Of particular interest, on this one heavily redacted “Firearms Inspection Worknote”, at least two of the firearms were in the dealers inventory, but “not listed on the inventory list provided by the NFA branch.” In the second box, the agent apparently wrote in, “F4 [likely meaning Form 4] apvd [likely meaning approved] 8/7/01.” Thus, in all likelihood, the agent was presented with the approved Form 4 while doing the audit, even though the NFRTR either showed the suppressor as non-existent or registered to another person.

If they stop selling to the state, I hope they still sell to citizens. Even though Cali is one of the worst states for gun rights, they do have some of the more passionate gun rights activists.

Of students applying to private colleges in 1997, African-American applicants with SAT scores of 1150 had the same chances of being accepted as white applicants with 1460s and Asian applicants with perfect 1600s.
