The Company You Keep
One of the lawyers that wants the government to prohibit carry permit holders from going in restaurants that serve alcohol is defending those restaurants for selling alcohol to minors.
I thought Will Cheek was all concerned about safety and stuff?

I don’t understand the people that want to lower the drinking age. They claim that younger kids wouldn’t be able to get any booze. That is pure nonsense. No matter what the age limit is set at younger people will be able to get it somehow. The claim that the French have lower limits and no problems doesn’t hold water either. JUST LOOK AT FRANCE.

Gun permit holders are supposedly a “public nuisance” or a “threat to public safety” if allowed to exercise their RIGHT in a restaurant serving alcohol.
But it seems that the greater “nuisance” and “danger is by those who consume alcohol in those restaurants and then drive. If lawsuits are brought against the former, wouldn’t it be even more reasonable to do so against the latter?

harley: The US survived for most of its history with no drinking age as such, and for quite some time with it at 18.
There’s no reason beyond an overreacting moral panic in the past, for the current age being 21.
What’s not to understand about thinking that adults should be able to drink if they want to?
(If 18 is too low, why isn’t 21? Why not 35? Why not reenact prohibition?
If we must have a line (and probably we must), “at adulthood” seems like the most sensible one.)

The anti gun-rights position has never been about safety, or crime. That is, unless by “safety” you mean “safety for corrupt politicians and their goon squads”. The crime and safety bullshit is and always been just a smokescreen. The sooner we all realize that, the sooner we can defeat the bastards.
