Guns at The Rendezvous In Memphis
A reader emails me this sign on the door at The Rendezvous in Memphis:

Note that it is actually one of the few TCA compliant signs that I have seen. But when you walk inside, you see:

Ok, then. A place I won’t eat.

Left them a message:
I will never patronize your establishment, as long as you encourage the denying to your customers of their civil rights.
Your policy on prohibiting law-abiding citizens from carrying concealed weapons, despite being authorized by law and cleared by police is disgusting.
I will further encourage my colleagues and friends to avoid your establishment as well, since you are both unwilling and unable to assure your customers of their safety, and simultaneously PREVENT them from defending themselves.

The Vous is owned by a lawyer, so it makes sense that they would get it right.

That same policy, put into effect by the Clinton Adminstration, was in effect at Ft. Hood.
Criminals can be safe when entering and also be aware that patrons exiting this establishment are probably unarmed victims.

Its beginning to remind me of the 1960’s where there were separate water fountains and back doors at restaurants for colored folk. Are law abiding firearms owners being singled out for refusal of service? Ok Folks, step to the back of the bus….

I am not a lawyer, but I am fairly certain that the law was set up in such a way that you could not lose your HCP if you happened to carry into a private, but prohibited, location (hence part of the punishment also potentially being 11 months and 29 days in jail – a few days short of the 12 months that could disqualify you from a permit). Could be wrong, though.

I’m done with them as well. There’s no good reason for this, as there’ve been no mass killings in Tennessee restaurants since the law went into effect allowing carry (concealed or open) for HCP holders in establishments that serve alcohol. For some reason, some folks insist on symbolism over substance.
I live and work a hair’s breadth away from this joint and have eaten at least 200 meals in The Rendezvouz in my thirty years as an adult. That has come to a screeching halt until this policy – and these signs – are removed.

Illinois Voter,
Right! This is discrimination against citizens who choose to exercise their 2nd Amendment (U.S. Constitution) AND Article I, Section 26 (Tennessee Constitution) RIGHTS based upon nothing but bigotry and prejudice.

Their ribs suck anyway.
Screw ’em. I will not go back.
