A bit back, I wondered why the FBI needed suppressed 20MM rifles. Well, David asked somebody and got an answer. Sort of.

Why do the wookie suiters think that the FBI needed to buy a couple of Anzio 20’s for the “Coming Any Minute Now… No, Really This Time!” revolution? Are they not aware that the .gov already has plenty of cannon, most of them a great deal larger than 20mm?
The nominal reason they got them was to have one available for ballistics testing.
The real reason is… well, the same reason I’d get an Anzio 20 if I could just write a purchase order for one. The same reason security out at Oak Ridge has vehicle mounted miniguns. Because they’re cool.
Ten bucks says that thing’s getting “ballistic tested” on the first nice range day after its uncrated.

I recall in that Clint Eastwood movie, Heartbreak Ridge, that gunny Clint pointed out to his Marines that the AK-47, weapon of choice for most enemies of the US, made a distinctive sound that the Marines should recognize. He fired one at them to help them remember the sound.
Maybe the FBI is going to train some of its people to recognize the sound of 20mm ammo being fired?

The day an FBI agent is shot with a 20mm rifle, I will give you a crisp $100 bill, “Mikee”.

I wish I could just use stolen money to buy whiz-bang cool shit. I could have sworn that I read something about the fed.gov being broke…..oh well, back to football, McDonalds, and buying whatever cool thing is out this Christ…er Holiday season.

I’d be happier knowing their budget was going toward hookers, whiskey and blow.
