That’s excellent advice for both genders.

Good advice; I have been doing that for many years, so does my wife. I even disconnected the doorbell and posted the front door “no soliciting.” I do call police when something suspicious is happening.

I would add to that if someone is at the door that you are not going to answer/respond to, I would be sure that you have a gun in hand.
There have been a number of burgleries that ring the doorbell first to see if anyone is home. If no one answers they break in.
