Guns in Restaurants Hysteria
It’s going to hurt tourism business. I mean, you remember all those people who were killed during the over three months guns could be carried there, don’t you? We have no stats or numbers to prove it but we’re going to say it.
And in Memphis? Because when I think of safe cities in TN, I think of Memphis.

Guns are allowed in restaurants in Florida. Even with the best efforts of the Brady Bunch, it hasn’t hurt tourism. (A lot of other things hurt tourism.)

Personally, I love the underlying premise that money is more important than people’s rights.
At least they can admit it.

They’re not saying it’s going to hurt tourism. They’re saying it has hurt tourism. But they won’t give specifics on how.

Speaking of which, are there any updates to any lists with restaurants that do not want guns in their bars, or is that done with?

One of the reasons I like going to visit TN from time to time is because I can carry my gun. One of the annoying things about visiting TN is that I sometimes have to leave it in the car when I want to eat.

Let me paraphrase…. “we suck at getting people to visit TN.. here’s your buck.”

Dan: You can’t carry in any restaurant in TN that serves alcohol. Period.

When I went to northern MS for the holidays to visit families, I asked my brother about some of the particulars on where I can and can’t carry, etc.
He reminded me that you can’t carry in TN in any place that serves alcohol whatsoever.
I was there for almost two weeks, and I ate exactly two meals in Memphis, and it was for this reason. In those two cases, BTW, I was really uncomfortable with having to disarm before I went in the restaurant.
I ate out in Southaven, because I can carry a gun there. And there’s little in Memphis that made me change my mind. Except Leonard’s.

Guns in restaurants will scare the straights, eh? Maybe not so much. Lately members of OCDO in Virginia had had get-togethers in two separate restaurants where 12-15 or so of all gathered. Virginia law is such that if you carry a firearm you must carry it openly if the restaurant serves alcohol. We did. No one said a word – not the waiters/waitresses, not the patrons. There was no brandishing, shooting, or other blood-in-the-streets activities.
On my own while out with my wife I’ve also open carried in a number of restaurants in the area. The most vigorous response I’ve ever gotten was a compliment from another patron for exercising my rights (who, it turned out, was an NRA employee). Again, no bloodshed or more than a passing glance from anyone.
Maybe Tennessee tourists are more sensitive than patrons in Virginia?
