21 of 22 were arrested at the SHOT show… I bet none of them packed for that.

I bet it’s related to sells to foriegn countries

It certainly involves sales to foriegn governments, the law mentioned in the article basically makes bribing foreign governments illegal and a crime in the US, even if it is local custom, or even legal in the country. Its an ugly law, and it often puts well meaning executives in a very tough position.

Sounds like it belongs in the same category as the lacy act. No fun at all. I think our elected officials do no understand anything but American laws. I hear about bribery in Afghanistan but over there it is not bribery. It is the way things have always been done. I detest when we force our laws and petty regulations on other countries. When in Rome.

Just an all-too-convienent way to divert attention from the unpleasant Massholery that Dear Leader wants us all to forget asap. “Look at the shiny gun-sales bribes, see how they sparkle in the light of my TOTUS! Yes we khan.”

Does anybody think its interesting that they waited to make the arrests at SHOT show? Perhaps trying to send a message to all the other manufacturers…

“Its an ugly law, and it often puts well meaning executives in a very tough position.”
The statute is moronic and written so that the “illegal act” can be defined as anything.
It was the featured in the underrated movie “Syriana”.

steve: according to the article i read, it was just the easiest way to arrest all of them, because all of them were going to be in vegas at the same time for the show, rather than going all over the US/world to arrest them.
