98% of the time the revisions are made as stealthy as possible, such that if I run across something noteworthy, I’ll make a snapshot or a mirror of the page right away in case they change it. I learned that from the WaPo and their deliberately deceptive coverage of the Heller case.
Corrections like this ought to be the gold standard for online media. I see it more often in bloggers, however, than in the MSM.
