Not trying to be snarky here, but what would you expect Mr. Shaprio to say? He’s been opposed to the NRA getting involved from the beginning; I highly doubt he would publicly admit the NRA’s brief was just what Gura needed to win the case.
It’s no different than Citizens United hiring Ted Olsen who previously argued for the government in 2003 defending McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform law.
It was NRA’s reply brief. Your not supposed to rehash arguments and recite cases from your opening brief. The reply brief properly focused on rebutting Chicago’s “arguments”.
