The Mom’s asking for $15,000 for a “wrongful death” on her PoS drunk-driving, fist-fight starting son?
That’s like what? 17 billable hours from a defence lawyer?
I wouldn’t blame him for settling if that what it took to end all the legal BS.
Assuming the commentor on that story posted the statute correctly, the defendant has grounds for summary judgement w/ attorneys fees awarded.
That is a danger in some states, but the better Castle Doctrine laws do have civil immunity as well.
BUY PERSONAL LIABILITY INSURANCE. It often comes with homeowners/renters and pays for FIRST DOLLAR DEFENSE COSTS in the case of a DGU. Costs like $9/mo and it covers your stuff! $10k gun riders are like $10 more per year.
Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
