You know what the press hasn’t discussed in a while?
The Houston case offers a glimpse into the underworld of illegal gun trafficking and how Mexican drug cartels find much of their firepower in the United States. Straw purchases are made by people who are legally qualified to buy firearms, but those weapons then make their way into the hands of criminals, authorities said.
You know what would keep guns out of Mexico? Border control.

Maybe I’m confused. Why do we want to keep guns out of Mexico? Don’t people in Mexico have the same rights as people in the U.S.? (No, I don’t think the Constitution “gives” us any rights; it just tells the .gov folks to keep their grubby paws off of a few of them.)
That aside, border control _is_ a very good idea — just not for the purpose of “keeping guns out of Mexico”.

“Border control wouldn’t work anyway. 4/5ths of the guns in Mexico are imported from other countries. What was it 95% of 17% the mexicans think may be American are American? And those were mostly handguns.
The meme got killed long ago and they are quietly running from it.
As for boder patrol that will never work. Here is AZ there trying to pass a bill which would make it a state crime to be here illegally and ask for work in public places. But it gives police more power that I don’t think they have the right to have.
