You could always drive out of Chicago and buy a gun in Des Plaines. Most people just didn’t know they could…

I’d have thought most people knew they could, but also knew they’d face prosecution if they got caught with the gun back home. The real test of how many new sales Chicagoland dealers should expect is whether there’s been a spike in FOID applications in Springfield. Without a FOID you can’t buy a gun anywhere in the state (or, if you live in that state, anywhere else).
