If you had ever been through Prince George’s County, and seen many of the types that reside there, you wouldn’t have a prollem with it. The North can have ’em.
Spent 3 years on the Eastern Shore (of the Chesapeake) while I worked for our Uncle. Beautiful country, even in the winter, which this Texas boy was really not ready for. The people not so much. Back then (’59 – ’62) most of them pretty much despised anyone not a Marylander.
The Eastern Shore is where I grew up, and it’s still pretty provincial. Nice enough and yes lovely country if flat as a pancake but green and lush is your thing. It’s pretty fun to fly over, actually.
But this is decidedly NOT a southern state. And we have the Northeastern gun laws to prove it.

I am unaccustomed to seeing Maryland without “People’s Republic of” in front of it.

Well, the old Annapolis families have gone soft, and DC’s elite have been moving into the state for years. To say I’m surprised would be a lie.
I hate it here.

The decade that I lived there ranks as the worst 50 years of my life. I thank God daily that I now live in Texas.

Mikee – lucky. I’ve been here almost 30 years, and we won’t be able to leave until the housing market recovers enough to make it worthwhile to sell.
