Ahh the safety of a taser. Guess the cops do not believe that. Texas cops get a bit carried away sometimes. Like the one who helped the crazy guy trying to commit suicide by pouring gas on himself so he become a torch. The cop tased him to stop him from reaching for a zippo. And we have ignition.

Actually, I doubt that had anything to do with it. Cops are trained to use lethal force if they’re attacked (or about to be attacked) with any disabling weapon – even pepper spray. The assumption is that the attacker will follow up with a lethal attack, or attempt to get the cop’s gun while they’re disabled.
This looks like it was an instance of training overcoming thinking – he could only disable one of the three cops with the Taser, so there was no chance of him getting the cop’s gun without the others stopping him.
Phelps, I am entitled to do the same thing. What I am not, is numerous enough to kill them all for trying to punish me for doing what I am entitled to do.
Thus the advantage is theirs, they are numerous enough to kill all of me and no one will endeavor to punish them for it. Even if they are demonstrably wrong.
That means if you will not lick their boots and they want you to, they will kill you. If you are determined you won’t, then you have chosen to be killed, so be as expensive as you can. Deplete their ranks as effectively as you can. Don’t be a cheap kill they will forget soon.

And the Ft. Worth cops that tasered a guy to death for… stealing electricity. Allegedly. (It was never clear afterwards if he really was.)

And that begs the question as to why we aren’t entitled to the same escalation when the police decide to throw a weapon into a non-violent situation.
