Oooh, scary militia
In Michigan, a bunch of crazy survivalist types (as opposed to the run of the mill sane survivalist types) were trying to score explosives. Trouble for them was they had delusions of mediocrity and allegedly planned to kill some police officers. These guys were even called too militant by the Michigan Militia. Brian Doherty is not too impressed.

If this group did in fact do what is alleged then there is reason for condemnation. However this is still very early on and there is a presumption of innocence until proven guilty. Some people quickly applauded the feds but nothing has been adjudicated. From all outward appearances this group is woefully stupid but an indictment does not mean guilt.

Heh; Those guys are NOT militia. The HUtaree is a far right(makes me look LIBERAL) fringe Christian group who are Rich in the beliefs of Dipensationalism. They are looking for the endtimes as prophesyed in Revolation. They see what is happeneing and well….I cant disagree it does look that way, but i feel its giving Nobama WAY TOO MUCH CREDIT; These people are not anywhere close to being a fair representation of Militia. BUY MORE AMMO….I dont think they are scary either just STOOPID.

I think the prosecution is nonsense.
Preparation to levy war is not a crime and that’s a precedent from the case of Aaron Burr. And, generally in the law, preparation alone is not a crime. A substantial step towards completing the crime or a conspiracy and an overt act are required. The judge who will hear this case is prepared to levy war against the United States if he owns a kitchen knife, matches, and a tankful of gas which if ignited will cause mass destruction.

You know you’re nuts when the Michigan Militia calls you out.

And, generally in the law, preparation alone is not a crime.
Eh, sometimes, but not always. Depends on the jurisdiction.
Here, though, it’s irrelevant: by scouting the area where they intended to do the murder(s), they took a substantial step toward the completion of the crime. You’re going to have a very hard time finding a judge and jury who won’t convict them on that.

Oops: I am not a lawyer (yet). This is/was not legal advice.

As I have stated in other places on the web, the Feds lost any sliver of faith and/or belief I had in them at Ruby Ridge and Waco. I recall that they said the same things about all those people they murdered and ALL those allegations have since been proven false and no agent of the government has been punished or even indicted, except one and he was protected from prosecution, for the wanton murders they committed.
So I have a default position given me by those same Feds that is simply: They lied.
Unless and until I see evidence with my own eyes that I can verify hasn’t been tampered with or invented my position is “They lied”.
They are seeking an excuse to kill again as an object lesson to all the liberty leaning Americans they have disgusted and angered. It is that simple. It worked twice, why not stick with a plan that has a proven track record?
And why would any of us not suspect them of trying it again?

If an FBI informant was involved…..then you know he was the one with the plan, the access to weapons, buys the drinks and sets the timetable, et, et. The government can gin up a case like this any time they choose against anyone and the judge and a jury will buy it.

And in fact an undercover FBI agent was involved.
‘An undercover agent played a role in the investigation that led to Monday’s indictments. Grand jury testimony by a law enforcement officer referred to an “undercover FBI agent” who worked on the case. The FBI declined to comment, but infiltration is a common tactic for law-enforcement officials targeting domestic militia groups.’
