He’s right! Disband the Air Marshals and allow the Pilots and Flight Attendants to be armed, or god forbid, even the passengers (GASP!).

Your Rep is an idiot and I’m embarrassed he is from Tennessee. The last thing we need it the Air Marshals having an arrest quota.
If the Air Marshal program was 100% effective, they would never have to get out of their seat as their potential presence would be the deterrent. I’m not saying the program is effective, just that counting arrests is not a measure but it is a way to get more harassment to regular citizens. But there is always some idiot that sees little crime, decides that means we can get rid of the cops and is surprised when the crime returns.

It probably would be cause for concern if the air marshalls were making lots of arrests. When you consider what it costs our economy every time some idiot tries to light his underwear on fire and people panic…yeah it’s probably money well spent that people feel safe flying on airplanes. We kinda need them.

I feel no safer on an airplane now then I did before 911. Only a lot more hassled. You know like having your laptop bag ran through the scanner 4 times before they realize what they see is a deodorant stick. They were too afraid to open the bag to see what it was. Supervisor had to be called to make the decision to let me go on. They could have just asked.
