My newspaper column for next week is on tornado preparedness and the idea of having a disaster kit ready and a family plan. I avoided the term ‘bug out bag’ but I did hint well at the idea that preparedness in general for things is a good idea. Hopefully a few people in my town will listen.

They make some great bags for a variety of uses; for a BOB, I’d look at some of their “gearsliger” series options, which include easily accessible concealed gun compartments. They also make a utilitarian duffel that is very durable.

I really like the IDF duffel they mention in that article. It could have a few more pockets, but it’s a good solid bag at any price.
