Justin has one. I gave up on the WiFi a bit back since the 3G is pretty darn fast. And I only charge mine about once every three days.
In Alabama, the bill to remove the prohibition on NFA registered short barreled rifles and shotguns is on its way to the governor.
A bit back, I picked up a AR-15 22LR conversion kit (available at Brownells). It’s a drop in unit that allows you to fire inexpensive 22LR ammo from your AR. Simple math makes it worth it. Inexpensive 5.56 ammo is $0.22 per round. Last time I was at WalMart, I snagged a box of 550 rounds of Federal for about $16, or $0.03 per round. The conversion unit is priced with a magazine at $180. So, after one case equivalent of 22LR, it pays for itself.
Took it to the range Saturday in Junior’s pink AR and ran 3 magazines through it. It ran perfectly. I was hitting clays at 30 yards with it easily (not flying, stationary). Next, I’ll give it a go with some subsonic ammo.
People with a clean record who want to carry a gun will have a much better chance at snagging a concealed weapon permit, Sheriff Adam Christianson said Monday, drawing thunderous applause from firearms advocates.
The bad:
The stunning change in policy comes as Christianson prepares to lay off dozens of deputies because of budget cuts. He has released 300 inmates to comply with new state rules.
Almost five years since hurricane Katrina and some residents still haven’t gotten their illegally confiscated guns returned.
When you strap on your hogleg, leave it there. Don’t go to Wal-Mart, pull it out, play with it, and (most importantly) negligently fire it.
The nannies are all butthurt because KFC has some sandwich that will both make PETA cry and kill you, if you live on a steady diet of them. Like most things in excess, it can be bad for you. And, for normal folks, that would be the end of the conversation. But the nannies obviously envision the head of KFC (no doubt wearing a top hat and monocle, puffing on a Cuban cigar) and his capitalist cronies exploiting the lower classes.
Flaming Zambooka: Bazookas, anvils, zombies and physics. What more do you need? Do not click unless you’ve got 30 minutes to kill. I warned you.
I agree. The NRA’s webpage is an abomination. Hard to navigate, weak google-fu, and you can’t link up info that you want. Fire everybody and pay someone $20 to install wordpress. You and your readers will be happier. People want info not flashy pretty things. It’s classic page is OK, I guess. NRA-ILA’s page is much better. Because I can use it.
The bill to restrict access to the handgun carry permit database is progressing. Again. It progressed last time until politicos realized they could use it as a mailing list. I don’t have high hopes for it this time either.
Guy finds burglars. Burglars flee. He shoots out their tires. Not sure that’s exactly the best plan and probably violates local law.
The Daily Show on open carry. It’s pretty funny, I think. Helmke seemed to play right into the bigotry theme, which some gun rights folks push. And came across as such when he said anyone who carries a gun is not a “normal human being”. I know he was probably playing to the show’s writers, but isn’t dehumanizing, eliminationist rhetoric a classic move from the bigotry playbook?
Update: Sebastian was wondering why anyone would go on that show. John Pierce of Open Carry, featured in TDS bit, comments as to why he did the show.
The Holster Site has a snazzy new holster that can function as both a pocket holster or inside the waist-band holster for your smaller pistolas. Now, I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking that’s a brilliant idea. I know. I thought of it. And others thought it was a brilliant idea too. I like the idea of going from pocket carry to IWB carry with my Kel-Tec. However, I think one J-Clip in the center would probably be adequate for a Kel-Tec or LCP.
I must have one.
Alabama added to the list of states that signed on to the Firearms Freedom Act lawsuit.
A bit back, I noted that the UN actually sent a firearms trace request to H&K. The UN is not a valid law enforcement agency and their request has no weight. I’m glad that 1) H&K told them to get bent. And 2) the NSSF is on the case.
A concerned mom read something she didn’t like on her son’s facebook page. She changed the password on his account and his email account. And apparently wrote some things that her son considered slanderous. Mom is now facing charges. Seems to me that if he lives in her house, his privacy concerns are moot.
Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
