ACLU: Defending Civil Liberties When Politically Expedient
Via Sebastian, they’ve caved on campaign finance reform:
The ACLU Approves Limits on Speech
On campaign contributions, a dramatic about-face.If that headline has a certain man bites dog quality, it’s because for almost 40 years the ACLU was the one major liberal organization that opposed campaign finance restrictions as violating the First Amendment. Although it supported disclosure of large contributions to candidates and public financing of campaigns to facilitate more speech, it resolutely opposed any limits on campaign giving and spending—including limits “voluntarily” accepted as the price of taking public funding.
Shame on you, ACLU.

Just like the NRA.

Don’t worry. As soon as Conservatives are back in the majority the ACLU will suddenly see the natural right of liberals running against them to spend wantonly money gained from any source. (Kinda like Obamas credit card rules)

Right, John. And when, pray tell, is the GOA going to convince Congress to repeal the NFA?

Maybe never, Cpt. but they won’t be working to keep it around or to implement it as one org did.
