  2. JKB Says:

The key thing is to keep in your mind that to them you are a threat until they say different. You know you’re a good buy, but to the cops you’re a guy with a gun.

I saw research that most undercover/off-duty police officers shot did not follow commands and/or turned with their hand near their waist. Often with something in their hand (badge). Why did they fail to comply, speculation is that in their mind, the commands didn’t apply to them, a cop. As in all situations involving the police, your best chance of survival is to keep them calm. Of course, doing that while your settling down after a near-death experience, is easier said than done.

“First, forget low ready. Shoot the bad guy when you need to shoot him, and then do what you can to hide the image of the gun. That means you use Sul, or the Covered Sul we are now teaching as well.”

Hm. Interesting. I was thinking that in a self-defense shooting, I’d triple-check for no other threats, then slowly reholster and wait for the police to show. Am I wrong on this?

In most movies I’ve seen, don’t you twirl the pistol around in the air a few times on your trigger finger, or insouciantly blow the smoke from the barrel, before reholstering?

I think while the linked post is absolutely correct, Chris Rock’s version of how NOT to get your ass kicked by the police is also very true. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q2FV3297tq4

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
