He should have been out decades ago.
He was originally a Democrat, and changed parties because he was in danger of losing his seat. The Dems called him Specter the Defector back then.

That about sums it up. If Toomey can beat Sestak, it’ll all work out. But it’s a little scary that he’s one step closer to winning.

I submit that even if, Allah forbid, Sestak were to win in November, we’d still be better off for Specter having lost now. Per Senate rules, trading a moderately crappy Democrat with massive seniority for a positively awful one with no seniority is at worst a wash, but it’s really not just about this one seat. Setting a precedent that RINOs can preserve their careers by becoming DINOs would have inflicted far more damage on the U.S. Senate than Sestak alone ever could.
