I like the idea of the Wild Bunch class, but I don’t get it. How come you have to use a 1911? Why can’t you use a Pistole Parabellum or a Broom handle Mauser? Why can’t you use a S&W K or N-frame or similar period correct Colt with fixed sights? Those predate the 1911 by nearly a decade. The movie occurs in 1913, why can’t you use firearms that existed at that time, like a Winchester Model 12, which was used as a Trench Gun in WWI and replaced the Model 97? It’s pre-WWI, but why do we have to use only the guns that were available to the prop master for a movie filmed in 1969? Do you really think Mexican Policemen were carrying M1903 Springfields in 1913?
Somebody should make a 1892 variant or Colt Lightning rifle in .45 ACP just for this class.

You mean Para USA’s new gun old design. It’s been around for over 20 years!

Also, they have model 1903A3’s which were built in WWII, so that’s not accurate at all.

I love everything about SASS except their deliberately underpowered ammmunition. Will they be shooting proper loads with the 1911?

I’m not into SASS, but have some close friends who are, so I am familiar with the Society. I wonder when the “mission creep” is going to end with them? SASS was invented for pre-1900 cowboy clothing and weapons.
Matt makes valid points. Since SASS is all about period correctness, and the movies is definitely dated, why aren’t ALL the weapons of the day in play, including Vickers and Maxim machine guns? Now THOSE would make Wild Bunch worth watching.

I would totally come out for a Wild Bunch match if I could run my Lewis or Hotchkiss.
